Wondering what to do in Elliston?

Staying just a short time in Elliston makes it hard to see everything that the Eyre Peninsula and the Great Australian Bight have to offer. Stay a while longer to see and do some of our favourite things which include:

Enjoy the scenery with a scenic walk

Walk along Beach Terrace, see the Silvio Apponyi squid sculpture, the historic 420metre long jetty (built in 1900) via the Town Beach and return via the walking track, the walking trail loop that takes in Boords Beach, Wellington Point and Little Bay, coming back via the Esplanade or the track around the golf course.

Take a drive

Little Bay and the Little Bay Clifftop Lookout, Bird Rock, Points Wellington and Wellesley, Anxious Bay Clifftop Drive, sculptures including Romy’s ‘Thongz’ and Siv Grava’s ‘Mara’ and look for dolphins and sealions that like to play in Waterloo Bay.

Taking it easy

Sit in the sun on the verandah and read the morning paper with a coffee from the Bakery and a freshly made bun or cake, have a round of golf, visit the Elliston Information Centre with great local produce and craft items, the Op Shop and tourist information, check out the stunning murals on the Community Hall and other buildings around the town, and children of all ages will enjoy the playground.

Hitting the water

Try surf fishing at Locks Well, Sheringa, Talia or Mt Camel. From June to August you can take part in the annual Australian Salmon Fishing Championship,  or just on dark try fishing for Tommie Ruffs (Australian Herring) from the famous Elliston jetty, and try for squid and other fish in the morning or during the day.
